Less Than 2 Days...

After our game last night, I got my gear together & threw what I was taking into the wash. UGH!! The smell was horrible. I didn't want that smell in my new bag. Especially if I'm trying to fit everything into one bag. I've gotten teased by my fellow teammates for bringing a extra bag & paying the fee. I've always felt it was cheaper to me to pay for another bag, rather than get there & find out it weighs too much, then having to pay the fee for my bag being too heavy. Slowly things have been appearing downstairs in preperation for the trip. I've got to charge things tonight & maybe get another battery for the video camera, just in case. Thinking I might waste some time at the bookstore this afternoon, finding books or magazines to keep me entertained at the airport. I've been looking into a book called Metro 2033. So far my only options is to order it online, which doesn't do me well for the trip. Oh well...
I think thats all for today. Brianna has a orchestra concert tonight, but after that, I continue my packing. Last minute details, then we are off... Til then... GO MONKEYS!!

3 Days to Go!!

Wow, it seems like time has been flying!! I've got my bag in the garage ready to be packed, but not until I play our last Katz game for the next week. Then its wash my gear & pack it up. I've been slowly throwing things I need onto the new bag so I don't forget anything. Made sure my wooden sticks were in the stick bag, I think I need to retape the one I usually use. Just in case you were wondering why wood sticks?? Well because they are cheap for one, don't want the airline breaking my $200 stick. Second... we can't do slapshots ( like I can anyways ) & hard wrist shots since the goal is only a couple inches high. So there is no point in having a stick that has the flex my normal stick has. Now the only hard part for me is fitting it all into one back without it weighing a ton. Also making sure I have some warm clothes... You know me, surf shorts & hockey jersey, or kilt & a hockey jersey... which will be coming with me. Thats all for today... GO MONKEYS!

New Bag!!

I broke down this weekend & ordered a new bag for the trip, as previously mentioned. It got here in 3 days. I was so worried it would arrive on Thursday & I'd already be in Wisconsin. That just means that I'm going to be getting my clothes together this weekend & getting them ready to pack up. Making my lists & checking them twice... Also making sure I have all my batteries charged on phones, cameras, Zune. Power chords, movies... all the important stuff. This is when the excitement builds & the nervousness comes. Til later... The Kodak Zi8...

For Christmas I bought myself the Kodak Zi8 HD video recorder. I thought it would be the perfect "pocket" video camera to take to Wisconsin with me. The only problem is... I've got to learn how to use the darn thing. I've taken video with it, now it's learning how to edit & then post the videos. Whether its on here or on Facebook. I think it would add a fun element to the my blog, I guess it would make it kind of a vlog. I just hope the internet options have improved at our resort, or I might have to spend more money ( which wouldn't make the wife happy ).
So the goal in the next few days is to start recording a few things & playing with the new toy, so when I'm in Wisconsin I can send some fun video back for everyone to enjoy. Til the next post... GO MONKEYS!!

New Bag...

I need a new hockey bag. Yeah I know, reaching for things to talk about, but it is pond hockey related. I bought a big bag a few years back from Hockey Monkey & loved it. It was huge!! Had enough room for all my gear as well as other things I might need. It had 3 wheels & a handle to pull along. I could carry it, but prefered not to... if I wanted to workout, I'd lift weights.
After 2 trips to Wisconsin & some "great" baggage handling skills by the airline of choice, my bag is about dead. Broken wheels & rips galore, it is time for a new bag. The problem is, we are getting way to close to the trip for me to make a online purchase, well not really, but I hate ordering & waiting. Is it going to come in on time or will it arrive the day after I leave, after I purchased a bag from a local sports store. Those are the things I think about. So in the end, I'll probably just go & get a bag from a local store & hopes that it fits all of my hockey needs. On second thought, maybe I'll get online & see what I can find... GO MONKEYS!!

Schedule Out!!

We were emailed the game schedule for the pond hockey tournament the other day. The highlight is that in the second game of the tourney, we are playing the Icelagers. It took 3 years to finally get that match up in Wisconsin, but it is happening. That means bragging rights!! I do believe the Monkeys hold the overall record in Wisconsin, but there has been no head to head. So even though we are named the " Eagle Waters Resort " team, we are still the Puck'N Monkeys & I know the Icelagers don't want to lose to the Monkeys. I was told there will be no drinking til after that game. haha!! Well I just had to share that little tidbit of information. We've only got a few more weeks to go so I need to start updating this site more before we leave. GO MONKEYS!!

Slacker!!

Ok, so I haven't posted in a while. I know no one really reads this & that I just post because I have nothing else to do. There was my problem. I had things going on that I didn't expect. No need to bore anyone with details so lets just leave it at that.
Now that we are less than a month away from pond hockey, I figured I would start up again. The Katz are doing... o.k.?? We've played several games without a goalie, well at least without one for the first period, & we've found out that we probably play better without one. Each time we've been missing our goalie, we've kicked butt. But once he goes into net, we play loose & end up blowing it.
As for pond hockey, there has been some sad news. Captain Purple will not be joining us this year. I'm a little sad at that. He was our entertainment & will be missed. I guess he'll just have to read the blog. On that note... I shall head off back to work. Even though we are no longer a team that exists in the GSHL... GO MONKEYS!!
